8 weeks old

Nika's puppies turned 8 weeks old on Sunday.. crazy how quickly the time goes by.   I took these pictures several days ago, and unfortunately I have no updated pictures to share.  It has rained every day since.

Tonight, our handling class is cancelled, the wind and rain is howling, and it is just plain nasty outside.  We're all curled up inside waiting for the storm to pass.  I've appointed Zoey as my chief bed warmer tonight if the power goes out.

We wish all of our readers impacted by Hurricane Sandy a very safe and uneventful next few hours. It's definitely a frightening night for a lot of people.

Now for some cute and DRY puppy photos.

A picture of Boomer that we shared on our Facebook page the other day.  He is such a fun puppy!

We know where his love of balls comes from...

Our very handsome "Fatboy" is now known as Hansel.   Or should I say Hansssome!  He's amazing gardening help.  This little guy is so disgustingly sweet and cuddly.  I think he's going to make his new Mom and Dad incredibly happy...even if he is the furthest possible thing from "blenheim girl" you can get ;)   I love it when perspective puppy owners are open to finding a puppy who best suits their family!

Little Diamond - Still a force to be reckoned with.  I love this girl's attitude and spunk!

Very pretty girl

Poor Cowboy is the only one I didn't get a decent picture of.. he'll be up first when the rain stops.

A poor attempt at a group shot

The hairy Ewok somehow got his picture taken too :)

Next up for me tonight.. extra blankets and a warm bubble bath.

A special visitor

On the weekend we were very fortunate to have a visit with one of Molly's boys.  His owners live several hours north of us (a 7 hour drive or so) and meeting up with them will likely always be a very rare occurrence.

Charlie very much enjoyed seeing his brother Loki, 5 little cousins, Mylee, and his favourite girl in the entire world.. bossy Zoey.

Charlie and Zoey.  Bad picture of Zoey, but it certainly describes how she was feeling about the situation!  Charlie doesn't care..he still loves her!
Photobucket

You may remember Charlie as "Chunk".  He was *so* much bigger than his siblings, and a bit of a bully.

Charlie is still the tiniest bit bigger than his other brothers, but unless you picked them up, or saw them standing right next to each other.. the difference was so minimal.  The nickname Chunk is no longer appropriate, Charlie has transformed into a muscular and very athletic little guy.

Handsome Charlie

Leaves everywhere!  Black and tan's just happen to look gorgeous in fall leaves.

Mr. personality definitely enjoyed posing outside

Loki really enjoyed playing with his brother.. mostly. They spent hours wrestling on the deck and running around in the yard.  It proved impossible to get a picture of them together.

One thing that didn't change though.. Charlie is still a bit of a bully, and Loki still got picked on.  It also proved impossible trying to get a photo of them together.  This was the closest I got
Photobucket

And this..one in focus, one not.  Yes... Loki looks like an Ewok right now. My good friend says his name should have been Wicket... I tend to agree with her.

Beautiful boy

His owners commented that Charlie doesn't look very much like Molly... and it's true, he doesn't. He's a clone of his Aunt Becky, Molly's litter sister.

Don't believe me?

Becky fully mature.

Can you see the resemblance?  My bets are on Charlie looking  like the male version of his Aunt Becky when he is older.

Nika's babies - 6 weeks tomorrow

Well I've been slow with both updates and pictures...

The problem is that when you have puppies, all you do is spend time with the puppies!  Mostly cleaning up pee... but also playing in the living room, going for very short trips outside, feeding, snuggling, shopping for cute toys and harnesses, having a ton of wonderful visitors over, and did I mention cleaning up pee?

The puppies are 6 weeks old on Sunday.  They started the week off by moving into their new "digs" that are located right in the middle of my living room.

They also had their first real bath.  Stinky?  Understatement for sure... disgusting would be more accurate.  Without an extra set of hands, I've decided that group baths rock.

5 babies, in the big bathtub.. together.

Not sure I like this bathing thing..

Abuse!  Help!

What's the matter?  You guys are wimps.. I love the bath!
Photobucket

This week we've also started making lots of trips outside with the puppies.  I really feel that puppies need to get outside at this age.  The problem is that our weather has turned very yucky.  It's been both COLD and WET.. not exactly nice for little ones.  I snapped some pictures on one of their quick trips outside.

"Fatboy"  He is so incredibly sweet and handsome.  He lives to be in someone's lap.

An adorable girl with a new nickname.."Garnet" to match "Diamond"

Beautiful Garnet

Our little Diamond.  She's the littlest but full of attitude and spunk.

The wild man of the bunch, Boomer!
Photobucket

Pleeease let me out to run after Rob and Zoey!  Cowboy reminds me very much of someone we know incredibly well around here (Zo).   I'm very sure he is learning all of her best tricks too.
Photobucket

And lastly....

We bid farewell to our little Queen last week.  She went to an incredible home that I couldn't have planned for her any better.  The problem is that when you spend that long trying to save a puppy, watching her succeed at life, and then not only living but completely thriving...it made it so damn hard to think about, let alone actually go through with.  To say I miss her just doesn't begin to cover it.

The Queen gets daily walks down to Lake Ontario, has a wonderful little cavalier sister, and has already been on a trip up to their family cottage (which our adventurous little girl adored).  She is definitely living the life of royalty, and her new owners love her to pieces.  For me....that makes all the heartache so incredibly worth it.

In the meantime we'll continue to miss her like crazy.

To a busy Sunday filled with puppy stuff.   More snuggles, more playing, more wonderful visitors, more outside adventures, and yes... lots more puppy pee!

Puppy pictures

Too tired to write very much tonight, but I just wanted to share some that I took just over a week ago. A week may not seem like a long time, but for little puppies it is a ton of time for growth and development.  They are already looking different, and it is time for new pictures... but these were too cute not to share.

Handsome boy!
Photobucket

Pretty little girl, she was the first to have her eyes open

Little girl who is fondly referred to as "Diamond", she has a tiny diamond white marking on her chest

Ruby boy.. this little guy is already quite the character
Photobucket

"Cowboy" not named by me, and already proudly known as someone's favourite...hmm I wonder why?  He is so biased!
Photobucket

Ruby meet ruby.  Mylee says "really?"

Hey, you look like me!
